Eliminating physical barriers

This brochure is a guideline on elimination of physical barriers. On around 60 pages, we present practical solutions to adopt nature experience offers to different user groups with mobility restrictions for a self-determined (unguided) nature experience. The brochure is meant to assist the implementation of the adjustments identified with the decision matrix (see Self-determined nature experience). It addresses adaptations and descriptions of nature trails with practical examples, provides pedagogical guidance to implement/safeguard safe and barrier-free motion. Along the decision criteria from the matrix, different aspects of adaptations can be advisable.

Different recommendations and standards were collected, scanned and summarised in an educational guideline. The same was done with physical guidance systems and with descriptions of the area to make sure people understand if a trail is suitable for them and do not get lost. All measures are described in a practical way with pictures/ photos and/ or illustrations to simplify implementation.
